“Earworm in the Toy Store”

My current series of paintings is a celebration of joy, nostalgia, and quirky visuals. Inspired by the infectious sounds of 1980s pop songs and the toys of my childhood, my work blends bright color, playful imagery, and lighthearted fun. Each piece is a visual interpretation of lyrics that once played through cassette tapes, car radios, and early MTV. They bring back the emotions and memories of a time when life seemed a lot simpler.

I am drawn to the toys, icons, and pop culture that shaped so many childhoods—bright plastic figures, sweet candies in colorful wrappers, and neon-lit arcade screens. These objects, much like music, hold emotional weight. They remind us of who we were, where we’ve been, and the simple joys that still make us smile.

At its core, my work is about happiness. In a world that often feels overwhelming, I aim to create paintings that uplift and invite viewers to reconnect with their own sense of playfulness or to provide a momentary escape from real life. I strive to capture the feeling of hearing your favorite song on the radio or unwrapping a beloved toy on Christmas morning—small but profound moments of pure delight.
